BISSAN ALHUSSEIN was born in Bissan, a small village in the Holy
Land, in 1986. She is currently studying at the University of Houston, Texas, leaving her native Mediterranean land to study Medicine abroad. Her noted work,
"Repressalie," won first prize in a college art exhibition (2003), which caused controversy, as the painting
evidently—many said—was somewhat political.
