Laundry Arcade
By Ashley Polker

Rumbling dryers. The washateria boils.
Swishing washers; detergents fair,
And fabric softeners wafting in the air.

The heat, little bother to us,
We only desire the arcades within,
Pinball, racing, action adventure a must.

Lucky are we to play in Hell’s laundry room.
Even though the pizza place has better games
They removed us for acting like a zoo.

ASHLEY POLKER was raised in a suburb of Houston, Texas. Creativity struck her at a young age, and she would entertain herself by creating her own comic books and stories. Today, Ashley is a college student, but still finds time among her studies to make humorous observations and craft them into short works. In May of 2006, she will graduate from the University of Houston with a BA in English and a concentration in Creative Writing.
